Information for visiting the site of former POW 107 camp

PERMANENT EXHIBITION Campo PG 107 – Villaggio Roma

POW camp no. 107 was built in 1942 and was used for this purpose until the armistice in 1943. After the armistice the camp was decommissioned, but was immediately converted into a workers’ village under the name Villaggio Roma.

There are no material remains of the camp: the barracks, inhabited by SNIA Viscosa farm workers until the 1970s, were completely demolished and replaced with new council houses. Only the village church still retains a part built in 1942. To make up for this lack and to welcome the descendants of former prisoners who sometimes come to visit the site, a permanent exhibition dedicated to the camp and its transformation after the war has been set up in the former primary school building. The texts and documents on display are in Italian, but the exhibition is accompanied by an audio-guided explanation in English that you can listen to on your mobile phone.

To visit the exhibition or for any other information on camp 107, write to protorviscosa@gmail.com or send an SMS or whatsapp message to +39 371 5682496. If you can let us know a few days in advance, we will be happy to accompany you. If, on the other hand, you are already at Villaggio Roma, we will still do our best to help you.
